The Waterfront
The waterfront lay in a sorry state for decades and few people ventured here. Today, thanks to an injection of private and public funding totalling Eur1 million this beautiful stretch of seafronting land has been given a new lease of life. The marina is attracting luxurious yachts to its berths and people are flocking to the cafes and restaurants or simply going for a stroll along the shore.
Fort St Angelo
A massive fort that stands majestically at the tip of the peninsula. It is Malta's oldest and the scene of savage battles throughout its history. The fort's importance stemmed from its strategic position as a gateway to Grand Harbour, and more importantly the sheltered inlet, Dockyard Creek, the nerve centre of Malta's maritime industry.
Inquisitor's Palace
An architectural gem in the heart of Vittoriosa that has seen internal transformations to match the tastes of it occupants -it served as the civil law courts of the Knights and subsequently the official residence of successive inquisitors who each sought to transform the palace into a mansion. Today it houses the Museum of Ethnography, focusing on the religious manifestations of the Maltese up to the present day.
Maritime Museum
Malta's maritime history is depicted in the Maritime Museum housed in the former British Naval Bakery along Vittoriosa's Waterfront. It displays models of the Knights' range of galleys, ship-mounted cannons and other armaments, as well as some fascinating contraptions that aidec early navigation.
