12 reasons to buy property in Malta

THE MALTESE ARE FRIENDLY. Our locals are not only a happy bunch, but also very friendly. You can rest assured that you will have no problem integrating within a village or town community. No surprise then that Malta's called the happiest country in Europe.

MALTA IS RELATIVELY CRIME FREE. Not only is Malta a very safe place to live in, but children play in the streets and you still find some people, particularly in Gozo, who leave their d door unlocked at night.

LANGUAGE IS NEVER A PROBLEM
. The majority of the population speaks English fluently whilst many also speak Italian (mainly thanks to the free TV channels we get from our neighbour country). And of course we all speak Maltese.

THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO AND SEE. How many other countries provide , you with so many things to do, all concentrated within 246 km squared. One minute you are diving up north and within 30 minutes you can be shopping in Sliema, exploring our past in Valletta or Mdina, or dining out in St Julian's.

RICH HERITAGE. It seems that Malta has always been prized: throughout our long and chequered history, the Normans, Carthegians, Byzantines, Romans, ( Arabs, French, The Knights of St John, and more recently the British, have all left their mark on our island and heritage. This is reflected not only in our history and monuments but also in a our characters, cuisine and traditions.

A SOUND INVESTMENT. Ask around and see if you come across anyone who has lost money when buying property in Malta. Over the last decade or two, the market has been growing constantly, making it one of the safest and highest yielding investment opportunities both for locals and foreign nationals. Now with the adoption of the Euro we expect to do even better.

IT SAVES YOU MONEY
. Why not do some research on how taking up residency in Malta might also save you money on taxation? To cite just one example, Malta offers holders of a Permanent Residence Permit a low flat rate of income tax of 15% with
a minimum tax liability of just over 4,000 Euros. Some conditions apply. I

FIRST AID. Malta offers excellent national and private hospital and medical services with a brand new state-of-the-art general hospital Mater Dei and a smaller one in Gozo. There are also a number of peripheral health centres, which are open day and night, as well as a good number of private clinics and hospitals.

SUN AND SEA. Of course we cannot forget this! Malta is surrounded by crystal clear seas and several sandy beaches. With an agreeable warm climate and sunshine almost all year round, we are definitely a hot spot.

LOCATION. Malta is a stone's throwaway from mainland Europe, only an hour's flight from Rome and a 3-hour flight from London, and with daily flights to all major European and North African airports and the advent of low cost airlines, it has never been easier and cheaper to travel to/from Malta.

LOW COST OF LIVING.
We are not the cheapest country in the world, but we do give value for money. To give you an idea, an average cappuccino will cost you 1.50 euros, a decent 3-course meal some 20 euros, the daily newspaper 50 cents, a litre carton of milk 65 cents.

GREAT CHOICE OF PROPERTIES. If you decide to buy or let in Malta, you will soon realise that you will be spoilt for choice. Whether you are after a 300-year old farmhouse, a trendy marina development, a high rise apartment, a mighty palazzo or a cosy
maisonette, be assured that Malta offers it all!
