My husband I have stayed 2 nights at the Port View Guesthouse in Marsaxlokk. We enjoyed our stay a lot. The Guesthouse just opened up not to long ago, so we must have been one of the first guests in that room, actually one of the first ones at all. The rooms were spottless. The bathroom very modern and clean. The room was furnished with a table and a chair, a closet with a fridge and a small safe, a very comfy double box spring bed. It was really nice to have an AC even if we didn't need it all.
all reviews » The host, Charlie, is a really dedicated personality that understands the needs of persons having a good holiday: spacious room with an excellent bed (you can have a balcony room with a view to the harbour if you order it), always also fresh fruit at the breakfast table, but above all: an omnipresent landlord who cares about you: gives advice, ideas for trips and when he was asked about where to buy capers he brought us some homemade ones the following day, insisting that we accepted them as a . Malta can be very crowded and busy, but this hotel and the small town with the funny name (Marsaxlokk) is quiet and yet fun to be in. The port area is right in front of the hotel, and the breakfast area on the roof looks out over this peaceful fishing village. The fish restaurants along the small port are good and very reasonable. I would eat in no other place on the islands. After a day of touring a busy Malta, we loved returning to this hotel. While Valetta is grand as is Mdina, stay here. We. The bedroom was spacious and clean and the owner was wonderful and most helpful and guest service orientated in every respect. Close to Bus Stop serving all of Malta from which we took the bus to visit beautiful Mdina - and just steps away from good, reasonably priced restaurants facing onto the beautiful fishing village filled with colourful fishing boats. We highly recommended this Guest Lodge for a 2 night stay which we had before leaving to go direct to Gozo departing by bus just steps away. An excellent choice if visiting Malta. Marsaxlokk is a lovely fishing port with a good choice of restaurants and bars. Port View is clean and comfortable with modern facilities. Charlie the owner couldn't be more helpful and provides a really personal service, even meeting us on foot in the town to take us to the guesthouse! A good continental Breakfast which can be taken on the terrace with stunning sea views makes Port View the only place we would stay in Malta!. For a guest house, the standard of the room was excellent. The owner is extremely helpful and accommodating. It was very clean and fresh looking. Breakfast is simple but tasty and as much as you want. For the price, it is an excellent place to stay. A hundred metres or so from the port and close to the restaurants. Free Wi-fi is an added and greatly appreciated bonus. The service was more than excellent and they even offered to come to the airport so we could follow them to the hotel with our own car, even though it was really late at night. The hotel is brand new and the rooms are excellent. The town was very cosy and it's a fishermen's village. We totally recommend staying at the Port View Guesthouse!!. It was a fantastic stay! The rooms are big an very clean. Beds are comfortable. Staff was absolutly friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was lovely presented. There are good restaurants for dinner only 20 meters away. All in all a great place for a holiday. Charlie (Carmel) was extremely attentive and nice, kindly allowed us to have a late checkout so we could enjoy the beach on our last day, before flying back in the evening. Everything was very clean and comfortable, but without excessive luxury. Spotlessly clean and good quality, nearly-new building. Very friendly and helpful proprietor. Just a few yards from the waterfront where there is a huge choice of good quayside restaurants and an attractive harbour. No pool or close beach. There is a small beach to one side of the harbor, for a quick swim, but not for the whole day. We drove to the ferry area one day and then took one of the fast short hop ferries to the blue lagoon. Get there early, since it gets crowded, but it is worth at least one day there. Visit the other island, Gozo too. Missed having a shelf in the bathroom for our toiletries, a light over the bathroom mirror and the hairdryer should be connected in the bathroom and not left in a box in the wardrobe. Breakfast facilities a little cramped and whilst the food was good it's presentation was unimaginative. Parking is an issue but that's the same across most of Malta! In the quadruple room there was no information about times of breakfast, etc., so had to go looking for someone but that was a minor inconvenience in the scheme of things. However, on my second stay in a double room, the information was available so it was probably just a recent oversight. Nothing, we had a great time!.
